Pokémon 30th Celebration: Japanese M6a Display vs the Ultra-Premium Collection

The 30th anniversary set exists in two versions that look similar and buy completely differently. If you have been searching for a “30th Celebration display” and finding nothing, this guide explains why — and what the Ultra-Premium Collection actually gives you instead.

Short version: a sealed booster display of this set only exists on the Japanese side. In English there is no booster box and no loose booster packs at all. Every English pack comes inside a product.

One anniversary, two releases on the same day

Both versions launched on 16 September 2026, a simultaneous worldwide release — the Japanese MEGA expansion 30th CELEBRATION (set code M6a) and the English set 30th Celebration. The large English collection products followed later: battle decks on 30 October, the Ultra-Premium Collections on 6 November, the Binder Collection on 4 December.

What both versions share

  • Every card is foil. There are no plain cards in a pack.
  • 30 Pikachu cards drawn by 30 different illustrators — the centrepiece of the anniversary, one guaranteed in every pack.
  • 30 anniversary reprints of cards from past sets, including Charizard and Lugia, in special versions. In English these are the Classic Collection subset. They are not legal in current Standard, but remain legal wherever their original printings are.
  • Special-design Basic Energy by YOSHIROTTEN, one guaranteed per pack.
  • Futuristic Rares (FUR): Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, also by YOSHIROTTEN. These are the chase cards of the set.

The Japanese side: the M6a display

  Japanese 30th CELEBRATION (M6a)
Release 16 September 2026
Pack 6 foil cards, 360 yen
Box / display 20 packs, 7,200 yen list price
Set size 176 cards
Guaranteed per pack 1 Pikachu, 1 special-design Basic Energy
Chase FUR Mew ex and Mewtwo ex — roughly one FUR per 5 to 6 boxes

That FUR figure is the number worth internalising. At about one Futuristic Rare per five or six displays, buying boxes to chase Mew ex or Mewtwo ex is an expensive route to a card you can simply buy as a single. Buy the display to open 120 foil cards and complete a large chunk of a 176-card set — not to hit a specific chase.

Japan also got two premium products around the set: a FUTURISTIC BOX at 27,500 yen and a Premium Deck Set at 6,200 yen.

Japanese stock sits under Japanese Pokémon TCG, and how our imports work covers the sourcing side.

The English side: no display, products only

The English set runs to 199 cards, every one of them foil:

  • 128 main set cards, including the 30 Pikachu
  • 33 secret rares
  • 30 Classic Collection cards (the anniversary reprints)
  • 8 Basic Energy

An English pack holds five foil cards — one of them a Pikachu — plus one foil Basic Energy and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. One card fewer than the Japanese pack, and a larger set to chase.

And then the part that sends people searching: there is no English booster box and no single boosters. Packs are only available inside products. If a listing offers you an “English 30th Celebration booster box”, something is wrong with it — which is also worth knowing before you buy from an unfamiliar seller. Our guide to spotting fake and resealed sealed product applies here more than usual.

The Ultra-Premium Collection: Day and Night

Released 6 November 2026 at 179.99 USD each, in two versions. The contents are identical apart from the themed cards and accessories.

  Day Night
Featured Pokémon Espeon ex Umbreon ex
Pikachu ex promo Day-themed, by YOSHIROTTEN Night-themed, by YOSHIROTTEN
Metal coin, playmat Espeon Umbreon

Both boxes contain:

  • 29 30th Celebration booster packs
  • 1 Classic Collection booster pack with three cards from the 30-card reprint subset
  • Two foil promos: Pikachu ex plus Espeon ex or Umbreon ex
  • Playmat, 65 card sleeves, deck box, metal coin, six damage-counter dice, TCG Live code card

The Classic Collection booster is the genuinely exclusive part. It is the one place that subset is packaged on its own, which is why the UPC is the product people actually chase rather than just a big box of packs.

Japanese display or Ultra-Premium Collection?

  M6a display Ultra-Premium Collection
Packs 20 30 (29 + 1 Classic Collection)
Cards per pack 6 foil 5 foil + 1 foil energy
Foil cards in total 120 about 150, plus 2 promos
Set to complete 176 cards 199 cards
Accessories none playmat, 65 sleeves, deck box, coin, dice
Exclusive content — Classic Collection pack, 2 promos
List price 7,200 yen 179.99 USD

Buy the Japanese display if

You want the most foil cards per euro and you are happy with Japanese text. Cost per card is clearly better, the FUR chase is the same two cards, and the set is smaller to complete. Pack-for-pack this is the cheaper way to open the anniversary.

Buy the Ultra-Premium Collection if

You want English cards, the two exclusive promos, the Classic Collection pack, or the accessories — or you want one sealed item to keep. Premium collections are print-limited in a way booster product is not, which historically makes them the items that sell out rather than settle to a lower price. Day or Night is purely a question of whether you prefer Espeon or Umbreon; nothing else differs.

Buy neither if

You want one specific card. With a 199-card all-foil set and FUR appearing roughly once per five or six Japanese boxes, buying the single is cheaper than opening for it. That is true of nearly every chase card, and anniversary sets make it truer than usual.

The rest of the English lineup

4 Dec Pokémon ex Tin 4 boosters, Sylveon ex or Greninja ex promo 21.99 USD
4 Dec Binder Collection 9-pocket portfolio, 5 boosters 31.99 USD

Note the cost per pack across that table. The Booster Bundle at 26.94 USD for six packs is the cheapest honest way to open English packs; the blisters and tins cost far more per pack and are worth it only for their promos.

Buying in Europe

US dollar MSRPs do not translate directly to European shelf prices — import duty, VAT and allocation all sit in between, and the anniversary products have been allocated tightly. Two practical points:

  • Japanese product reaches the EU later than the Japanese street date. A 16 September release in Japan means freight time before it is on a shelf in Europe.
  • Premium collections do not usually get cheaper. Unlike booster boxes, which are at their cheapest in the weeks after release when stock floods in, print-limited collections tend to disappear rather than discount.

We ship from Germany — details on the EU shipping page. Current stock is under sealed Pokémon TCG, Japanese Pokémon TCG and Elite Trainer Boxes.

Frequently asked questions

Only in Japanese. The Japanese set M6a has a 20-pack display at 7,200 yen list price. The English 30th Celebration has no booster box and no single booster packs at all — every English pack comes inside a product such as the Elite Trainer Box, Booster Bundle or Ultra-Premium Collection.
Six foil cards for 360 yen, with one Pikachu and one special-design Basic Energy by YOSHIROTTEN guaranteed in every pack. A box holds 20 packs and the set runs to 176 cards.
Only the themed content. Day features Espeon ex with a day-themed Pikachu ex promo; Night features Umbreon ex with a night-themed Pikachu ex promo. The metal coin and playmat match. Pack count, Classic Collection booster, sleeves, deck box, dice and price are identical at 179.99 USD.
Thirty in total: 29 regular 30th Celebration boosters plus one Classic Collection booster containing three cards from the 30-card reprint subset.
The Futuristic Rares (FUR) Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, both illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. In Japanese product a FUR appears roughly once per five to six boxes, so buying sealed to chase one is more expensive than buying the single.
176 in the Japanese M6a set. 199 in English: 128 main set cards including 30 Pikachu, 33 secret rares, 30 Classic Collection cards and 8 Basic Energy. Every card in both versions is foil.
Not in current Standard. The 30 anniversary reprints are legal only in formats where their original printings are legal.
The Japanese display, if you only count foil cards per euro: 120 foil cards for a 7,200 yen list price against about 150 for 179.99 USD. The UPC earns its price through the exclusive Classic Collection booster, the two promos and the accessories, not through pack count.
